Well as you may or not know. I recently had a garden makeover and had decorative gravel put down with the intention of using containers. However despite the use of weed suppressent membrane I have noticed the odd stray blade of grass coming through. Can I use a weed suppressent as some of the grass is very close to the pots with my precious and expensive shrubs in them.

Nut, by your admission youve already got membrane therfore you need to resort to weedkiller eg roundup.

If the contractor had used well compacted sub base of type one then a decent layer of chippings then you would not have had a problem. If you want to replace the membrane then you need to use genuine terram of the heavy grade, the normal cheapo landscape membrane is crap.

If you think for one min I am going to take the chipings up and replace the membrane you can think again, Do you know the cost of a decent manicure?? As to the sub base errrm me thinks he didnt use one. It was done by a friend of a friend cheaply so I cant ask him to come back and sort it either. So can I just douse it in weed killer? Will my pot plants be ok? Please dont say I have to move them as I dont want a hernia ;)
