Probably more to do with pressure than temperature. The water in the mains is under pressure, and sometimes contains dissolved air. When the water get in to the hose the pressure drops, and the air comes out in bubbles. Same effect as taking the top off a bottle of fizzy drink

The nut is quite correct with his answer.
Believe me. 33 years as a water treatment engineer has taught me a thing or two.
    Nothing to worry about

Handbags at dawn I forsee:mad: Just as a by the way to this I worked in the brewing industry for many years and beer is packaged into the bottle under pressure from co2 so the beer is saturated in co2 when you open the bottle out comes the co2 hence the fizz,we needed to get a finer bubble so the head of the beer was "creamy" clung to the glass and stayed longer, we started to use n2 nitrogen as a counter pressure gas and the result was a beer (stout to be precise) with an outstanding creamy head, you guessed it guinness, so SHE is right well done the nut.:D

I belive it may have somthing to do with the velocity of the water coming out of the hose, maybe it would be a good idea to release the water slowly. Sorry i cannot be of more assistance, good luck.

Just to confirm what was suggested, that the milky white appearance of what first comes out of the hosepipe is almost certainly aeration, I tried leaving my hose full of water after recoiling it, the next time I used it there were a few bubbles but no white foam. Thanks to the folks who came up with the explanation.

Always happy to give credit where it's due and very grateful that there are clever gurls ( and occasionally boys ) out there to enlighten us, the terminally bewildered. Cheers T D.
