I'm with Virgin, formerly Telewest [cable] and have had good fast connection. Virgin are not as helpful as Telewest were.
Best service I had was from BT who had technical help free. I only left because I got a TV, telephone and broadband package at a cheap rate from Telewest.
No problems with peak time slowdowns.

BT. I have been with them for nearly 10 years and it has pretty good.

I had one very frustrating period when it was more a people communication problem than an internet problem. Apart from the language barrier they were insisting that the problem wasn't an ISP problem and didn't seem to understand that I agreed with them but wanted them to arrange for it to be sorted out. Got it done eventually :thumb:.

My speed is .8mg but can't expect more as we are far from the exchange and the lines are very old. We still have the old fashioned shared line with our neighbour but the digital system now allows us to make a call even if the neighbour is on the phone :thumb: :D

Was with BT but changed to Virgin, because it was much cheaper for just phone and broadband.

No problem with installation or actual running, so far.

Though from what work colleagues say, AOL is not up to much!

    Cheers

Force 9 (or Plusnet) who are owned by BT now. No complaints at all, good connection 8.1 Mbps and their help desk is in Sheffield staffed by Yorkshire people at Local call costs.

Virgin Media and so far iv had good service apart from (i think someone said) its pot luck as to wether they know one end of a computer to another. At least its free to ring them. I too got a cheaper deal with virgin. i have the phone, broadband and tv. We did at one point think about going to sky for the tv but when we saw it in our friends home it still has the same problem as it did years ago ie: the picture goes into little squares frequently.
So glad we didnt change lol.

I am signed up with TalkTalk and am very pleased with it.

    I get

    £19.99
    landline
£19.99 free calls local and national 14/7 plus free 0870 calls to TalkTalk support line.
    £0 Broadband at 54 mbps
£0 free international calls 24/7 though this is a promotion which I had for a year and will finish at the end of this month. I intend to keep it up though as it is only £2.99 pm and I phone a LOT of people all over the world!

So my bills are usually around £34 a month or even less!

Was with AOhelL changed to Virgin, 2 months later got an email from AOhelL saying we're transferring all our cable customers to Virgin, so Virgin send me a bill for 2 connections, managed to sort it though.
Laugh (?) was I'd stopped the direct debit to AOhelL and obviously they didn't take any notice of that!!

Just gambled on TalkTalk as I dont have any Sky packages. So far it was late going live and I lost my BB twice in the the first 48hrs.

Not the best of starts but so far it has stabilised and stayed connected.;) :thumb:
