never purchased roses on line but have purchased plug plants and bare root plants (only because the prices were so good)
This was from Thompson & Morgan. I can't say that I was impressed and I can't say that I was unimpressed.:)

They started delivering earlier then the date stated which caused repeated visits to the post office and substituted some plants with others which I'd not really have purchased and would rather have had my money back, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt and buy again from them.:)

I've always planted roses bare-rooted in the Autumn, and unlike a pot-grown plant you don't get a chance to choose the one you want. If you were doing that I don't think you would have a problem buying online from any of the big-name companies. Ours came from Cants of Colchester - because they are local to us and we went to choose from their demonstration beds. They do have mail order but no online buying - the catalogue is online http://www.cantsroses.co.uk/

David Austin have great information, folk speak very highly of their roses, but they tend to be expensive. They sell online:

tick ORANGE and YELLOW and see which ones you like!

My Mother used to buy from Harkness:

The majority of online rose sellers only sell bare root ones and despatch between November and March when the plants are more or less dormant. At this time of year only container/pot grown ones would be available and post and packing push the price up a hell of a lot. Better to go to a garden centre unless you can wait until November/March.

    Hi Grawlfang,
I don't know whether this will help, or even if they sell online, but I bought this rose (oranges and lemons) from a garden cenre in Kent:

The rose itself is excellent with great blooms and a lovely scent, would definitly recommend it.

    Good luck.

I'm with Dorset Mike - whilst happy to buy plants on line - not roses. I like to see the stems and foliage before buying if buying container grown. Bare root I still like to see the strength of the pruned stems. If you get a strong plant at the start, then your much more likely to grow it on to be a treasure.
