Hi 02 .... no probs for me ... lovely slideshows, both of the castle and the Heritage Park ... guess that's Mr 02 in the limelight?

The Lupins are lovely and is that a Beaucarnnea (Elephant's Foot) blooming? I'm having to guess at the plants .... doh!

Looks like you had a nice break away.

I thought it was a gunnera Lol, might be wrong though. Yes thats himself in the back ground. We had a great time, but 3 days just was'nt long enough. We will have to go back again sometime and stay a bit longer. We only scratched the suface. The main problem was, there was such long distances between places of interest. We covered over 200 miles in the short time we were there.

    Ooh, like the first pic.

Yes, the large-leafed thing is a Gunnera ... I'm referring to the big trunked thing with a ponytail like top and flowers .....

Really looks like a lovely place to visit .... I'm a bit Celtic/Gaelic all around ... born in Wales .... a Welsh mother, Welsh grandmother, Irish grandfather .... father born in Burma with a Scottish father and ???? not sure mother (never knew them) .... no English in me whatsoever I fear .... although my maiden name was Winteringham-Jones and there is a town in Lincolnshire called Winteringham .... so, perhaps .....

I visited them gardens in Johnstown back in 2005, end April beginning May the Camellias and Rhododendrons where in flower, and the Gunnera where getting a bit tall then.

The lake surface was clear then, pity it was getting a bit weedy when you visited there.

Yes I have to return to southern Ireland, we where on a coach tour and in 12 days went all around the coast including Northern Ireland.

    Great pics 02! :)

I love Southern Ireland! The castle looks like the one on the opening credits to The Quiet Man film. Fab gargoyle photo - no I'm not talking about Mr 02!!!!!! and I love the Dolmen and stone circles - right up my street.

Did you stop off anywhere in Co Wicklow? The mountains and gardens there are wonderful!

And where's the pic of yerself 02 ??!!

    Kath :)

EDIT! SORRY 02 - this is Cookie Monster, who is visiting her mum (Compost Corner) and who, like a big numpty, forgot to log on as me....!

Went to Southern Ireland for the last week in May. I have never been there before and it was just so beautiful that I want to move there. We were so very lucky witht he weasther too. We were able to go topless all the time.:D

There was a whole bunch of that went (Oxford Mx-5 Club) so we had 12 MX-5s and 22 peeps. I'm sure we made a grand sight on the roads out there but I must say I was so impressed by the country that I'm going back again and this time I will be going to all the gardens as well.
I will post a few photos when Himself shows me how to upload photos on to Photobucket.

:thumb:Like O2 says, it is a beautiful country and so very green. I do think that they have a pretty mild climate looking at all the plants. The sandy beaches were beautiful and the water was so blue and inviting too.

I was sad to leave, coz as I said there was so much we didnt get to see. It never dawned on me how big Ireland was. I think next time we will have to stay for a couple of weeks to take it all in. The best bet would be tour and stay at differnt B&B's on the way, as you waste so much time having to travel back to your lodgings. It is'nt cheap though, OH is a careful christian when it comes to spending money, I wouldn't call him mean, just careful.;) The cheapest fish and chips was 10.50 euros. pint of guinness and bottle of bulmers cider 9.50 euros. What little we saw was beautiful, I would definately recommend it. 02

Cookie I took the gargoyle pic especially for you. I thought you might like it.:thumb:
