    Hello

I planted some of the small mini confier trees in April (lime green in colour) not sure of their name (if somebody could tell me that would be great)! Although I watered daily during the hot weather all six have gone brown and have very little lime green colour left. However, 6 others which were purchased at the same time and same place, are still nice and green. They are also in wooden troughs but about 1m away from the others. I planted pansies around them all, and the only thing I can think that is different in the ones that have died it there is some decorative ivy planted in these ones.

The ones that are still alive are in smaller troughs than the others, so it can't be this. Is it worth buying 6 more at £3 each and same thing happening again?

    Shame about your trees Hannahm.
Don't know what the lime green ones are.
All I can suggest is that newly planted trees don't have a well established root system but do need a lot of water.
Young trees should be watered copiously over their heads as they will absorb water through their foliage while the roots are still inactive.
Whichever way, I think you are talking about a watering problem.

Trees take a lot more water and food that people realise. You did feed them as well?

I've seen these very bright green conifers around here but I cant make out what they are.

There has been some planted just up the road from me as a hedge, but in the 6 yrs or so that they have been there growth has been very slow and I've noticed a few have gone brown and died.

They dont appear to be very strong growers, and when dead the root system looks non existent.

Could these be the same kind?

They look very nice and bright green.

    Hello

yes they are really bright green. but obviously brown now! It is funny that the 6 other ones I have only about a metre from the others are still lovely and green, I watered them the same amount. Maybe because the ones that are brown are in bigger barrels with more pansies e.t.c in and the other flowers have taken all the water? Whereas the ones in the small troughs only had a few flowers around them so although I watered them same amount they didnt get enough

I am going to take them out this week and bin them! Planting some winter pansies, Got some ivy in there already. Can anybody suggest anything to put in the middle of each barrel instead of the mini conifers?
