don't use it too often - otherwise you will burn the grass - leave at least six weeks between feed and weed

i manage with about two summer feeds and a late feed with a separate autumn feed . autumn feed strenghens the roots but doesn't promote growth on top

I bought some feed that was recommended for long dry hot summers - it has been wet ever since!

Most years, I've done the same as Johnnywas. And the upside of a "poor" summer is that your lawn tends to look all the better for it. But if the weather gets really hot (ha - chance would be a fine thing!) I hold back on the second summer feed.

I have always had good results with evergreen. Recently I have taken to mulch cut my lawn so haven't used anything for a while; lawn still looks good.

I'm disappointed with the weed-kill this year. Maybe the wet washed the killer away?

I wonder if I should use just fertiliser, and then spray a separate selective weedkiller (Verdone or somesuch) a bit later on? Plus as the lawn improves the weed should only need spot-treatment

I dont like to use granules but preffer a liquid lawn fertilizer Lawn magic. Many of the pelleted feeds place nitrates in th eleaves so the lawn greens up and looks nice but there is a risk that after application if it doesnt rain, the lawn can scortch as the pellets rest on the leaves and heat up by the sun [if we have some] So you need to stand by with the hosepipe and water it well within a couple of days.

Lawn Magic works at root level giving strength to the root system making it stronger to cope with drought and increases plant growth to help smother out weeds. lawn looks good permenantley

Use a superspray applicater which dilutes as you spray from a hose pipe. see www.superspray.co.uk for feed and applicater.
