Nokia interviewed more than 1500 people around the world to understand how people carry their mobile phones and why they carry them that way.
Turns out that most men (60 per cent) carry their phone in their right front trouser pocket; easy to reach. 61 per cent of women like keep their phone in a handbag, despite 50 per cent missing calls 'cos they can't get to it in time.
Does anyone care how others carry their mobile? It never even crossed my mind until today.. I am amazed how I have survived the mobile phone era without such essential knowledge.

Well, I am one of 61% - keep mine in my handbag and I often miss calls 'cos I
don't get to it in time.

    Where do you carry yours?

It's simple, I don't because I don't have one! Why do I need one? I've lived my life without one so why do I need one now ??? You see people walking around with phones glued to their ears .... people madly veering off the road to answer the phone (very heavy fines here if you don't have 'hands free') .... what did they do before ??????? How did they manage ????????

When I had my own company in Bucks working in Human Resources within the GM Education Sector I had one as I travelled around the South .... but it was for emergencies. When I packed the business up, t'other half took the phone because he was in charge of networking for Renault Trucks throughout the UK and they would not give him a phone. If the phone rang and it was Renault he ignored it .... :D .... much to their chagrin! They would even phone when we were travelliing through Spain and Portugal .... when he was on holiday ... forget it ...

I appreciate having one for your business and for emergencies .... but for no other reason. I don't use the telephone at home and I have Skype which is rarely used ..... I know, I know, chatterbox, chatterbox .....

They have their uses ... but not for me ....

I don't remember that, strongy, but we obviously have similar views on this subject.

Portugal actually has the highest per capita for mobile phones .... .ie, like every member in the family has one and there is no landline unless they have a computer which is NOT the norm in the country because service is not available in remotish areas .... aaaggghhhh! We are paying a premium ....

Slinky ..... that made me laugh . xx

    Philistines!

I have one, won't leave the house without it, even if I am just going down the road to post a letter. But it's only for emergencies. Never switched on else. And when firms keep asking me for my mobile number, I say I don't have one cus they give me funny looks when I tell them there's no point in me giving them the number as it's never switched on.

But I have found it very useful on occasion, like when I had my purse stolen the other week. I was able to instantly ring the bank to stop my debit card. My principle use is in case of car breakdowns but it does irk me no-end that you have to pay top wack for 0800 numbers made on a mobile. I do think that's not on - not at all!

Oh yes - and FTR I keep mine in my handbag!

Forced to carry one in my saddle bag by mrs Walnut (she who must be obeyed) in case I get into trouble have to remember every few months to charge it,hate being in company when these things go off and they immediately stop the conversation to answer or text back, the height of bad manners, often wonder how we ever managed without them, and don't get me started on these cretins that still use them whilst driving (there's plenty that still do)they should be banned from driving for life.

I'm with most of you on this. My mobile is quite a few years old & was only updated because a friend was getting a new one. O/H & I are both are PAYG. We spend, combined, about £15 per quarter:D. We do have a landline but that is hardly used.

I agree with the emergency bit. That's why i got mine years ago, for travelling, and that's why we keep them although not needed much. We would all appreciate mobiles for different things I expect - I like my hubby's cos it's got radio so i listen when I'm gardening especially mowing. Mine hasn't, it's that old:D But to pay hundreds of pounds every year of so - no.

I can understand having one for emergencies as i said but for kids (I'm talking 6+ years to have one) no way.

Got to go now cos I've spilt my drink over keyboard and need to clean it!

    cheers

I've had a mobile for years (actually, more than one because I lost the original last year) but it only gets switched on in emergencies - like when I go shopping as Mrs shiney always thinks of something else for me to buy after I've left home! :D

I bought my current one last year when my other one went missing. It cost me £7.99 - daylight robbery :D. The one that went missing still had some of the money on it from the £10 I put on there three years before. No one ever phones me apart from Mrs shiney :( but I don't give my number to anyone because I don't know what it is. :D

I do carry it with me when we are out walking in the Lake District in case any of my party get lost on the way to a walk.

I keep it in my left-hand trouser pocket.

Mr Kandy bought me one years ago and it was one of those brick ones:rolleyes: He said that because I rode a moped he thought that in an emergency I could ring him and he would come and rescuse me..WRONG.When I did break down and I rang him at work he said 'I can't just drop everything and come to your aid,I am busy at work'

I had to push my bike practically all the way home and those mopeds are blooming heavy:( I had practically got all the way home when I was rescued by my next door neighbour:thumb: I think my skin glowed all night with the exertion..

I now have a Nokia3310 which is now getting old but still looks brand new and when I looked at the new ones the buttons are so tiny and fiddly.I use mine for texting family and friends usually about once a week just to see how they are getting on as some of them are not on the net. :)

My phone is usually wherever I have put it last and can never find it
