We used to have some in the corner of our garden, right outside our living room. We used to have our outdoor eating area there, but learnt our next door neighbour had an audio recording cctv camera there and was recording our conversations! We moved our eating area some 75 feet away, and hung wind chimes - so he could record the wind chimes instead of our conversations. He's now gone though - and wind chimes have been removed as surely they would be annoying to new neighbours who are lovely. I'm in the process of building a hammock hanging arbour - and will be putting grape vines on either end of it (it's a father's day pressie for hubby) and will put a small wind chime in there to keep the birds (hopefully!) away from the grapes.....I love wind chimes - particularly the 'gong' one in the local garden centre right now
Surely that is a matter for the police to investigate,The last thing i wamt is my next door neighbour knowing which set of car keys i picked out of the Bowel.......:D
I have two sets of wind chimes - one small Japanese one close to my french door - that just chime quietly for my ears only. The other is one of the big Woodstock chimes - lovely sound - but to keep it mild and non irritant to neighbours - I stick the wooden hang down bit, up on the top. This means that the chimes just sound slightly in strong wind. Pleasing at times, but non agravating to others. I fell for a couple of optical wind spinners - and they are lovely in the sun. I just could not resist the optical effect when they turn.
I'm stunned that people would do such a thing what a sad and very sick person he must have been, glad your new neighbours are ok it must come as a huge relief.Hel.xxx.
Sad and sick.....yup :( You'd be stunned at some of the things over four years we had to put up with - but both him and her now have their cautions from police they worked so hard to get, and they're gone and someone elses problem unfortunatley - but life here is wonderful. The windchimes in hubby's hammock shack will be for pure enjoyment and nothing else - and .... far away from the house not to be a nuisance to anybody. Someone mentioned about loving to play the windchimes in the garden centre - yes...my kids love that too - I would've loved to have bought the gong one, as it sounded fantastic....but where we are catches alot of wind, and I'm afraid it would become annoying to neighbours - so we'll just admire it in the garden centre for now.

next door had plenty of them but they were too loud at 3am so she doesnt have them any more ..there is a little story behind them but i better not go into that:D honestly it wasnt us:D
We have 3 sets of wind chimes hubby made out of copper tubing And a wooden spinner :( Used to have a large wooden wind chime made out of bamboo but sadly rotted
