    Yep, I have an electric lawnrake which I use to scarify in the autumn, but have used it to clear thatch at other times, but with the tines set about halfway.

    If your lawn is small then it will be fine however if its medium - large then hire a petrol one.

    You may want to consider a 'Verti-cutter'

    It's similar but has stronger cutting tynes, but is more expensive.
