    O2,
It sure is a Bichon, he is the nosiest wee man ever and he gives the squirrels a run for their money. Has to put on the brakes quite sharply when he comes to the fence at the end of the decking next to the wood. The squirrel runs up the nearest tree and just sits there sticking his tongue out saying neh, neh, neh.
Paul, even though I don't agree with you about the squirrels, thanks for the comments about the work.
    Helofadigger,
The weather up here has been great but today their is a change -a-brewing. We had 1 or 2 wee raindrops. I was up on a farmhouse roof working on a chimney when the clouds started to thicken. The farmhouse is near the Galloway Forest and the view from the roof is spectacular. I am back there again tomorrow and Wednesday so I hope the weather holds for me.

A couple of planters and some of my seeds in the summerhouse. Not enough light getting to them, but hope to get quite a few nice plants going.

G.man, what the hell are you growing in all those seed trays? and where did you get them.

I know Cotterin, not well but i do work in the next village up the 76 towards killie.

I totally agree that the views in the galloway forest are amazing, used to have to drive to the tops of the hills in a previous job.

Looks good clean but doesn't stay that way long while all the work is going on, he is a proper groundhog.

G.man your right about them being noisy, for a small dog they have a powerful bark. ours goes beserk if someone knocks on the door (which is a good thing) he dosn't chase squirrels but he dosn't like cats, if they come in his garden. He chases pigeons off to because I threaten to give them his dinner if he turns his nose up to it.:D:D what is yours called? 02

    Hi Alasdair,
The seeds are poppies, zinnia, aqualigia, dahlia and other annuals and perrinials. The seeds mainly are free with Amateur Gardening mag and the trays are cadged from Trains Nurseries. Adam is a really nice guy and he has to send them for waste disposal/recycling anyway. I have another 6 trays in my cold frame at the side of the summerhouse.

Trains seem to be going down a different road from the usual, they don't have the same variety of goods they used to have. Some great ready planted hanging baskets though and bales of peat @ £10 for 200ltrs. This is a great soil improver on our Ayrshire clay. Went to the local authority site at Skares for their (free ) compost, thats a laugh. You have to buy the green recycled bags from them (max 4) for £2 each they hold about 50 ltrs of compost.
They say you can fill them as many times as you want, but 9miles to get 200 ltrs compost cost too much for deisel. I picked up two bags of 150 ltrs for £4 each 'cos the bags had small holes in them and then got further 10% discount with my 60+ card.

Spent the last 3 evenings laying slabs and paviors on the front drive which I intend making into a patio area with planters and pots. The cottage driveway had previously been done with 3/4 red whin chips and its 50 yds long. It is deeply rutted and the chips were probably layed in an attempt to hide the ruts ( picture a farm track 'cos I think 20 or so years ago the owner then must have had some sort of heavy vehicle or a tractor ) I was given ;) 3 or 4 cube of concrete for a bottle of whiskey so layed that one day on the top part of the drive 3-4 inches thick and now I am laying the patio on top. It took me from 1pm till 8pm on the day I got it, to barrow it up the drive and float it. It was getting dark by 5pm and I was working by the light from the security floods and then it started to rain and I got soaked through into the bargain (twice ). Anyway the slabs are 600 x 6oo riven buff for the main path up the drive and 450 x 450 buff plain slabs either side of them separated by dark grey paviors. I will take some pics tomorrow evening when I return home from work so you can all see the effect.

    gman,

popped into trains yesterday for the first time, i agree the hanging baskets were great and they had some gorgeous planted pots with purple flowers, forgot to photograph it to find out what it was.

i felt like a fish out of water thereas it seemed like there was only bedding plants and roses, though there acers out the back seemed not bad at 25quid.
