    Borrowers,
Thanx for the comment, I took them with my digi camera on macro mode as it gives clear pictures and hides the background. when you blow them up in a good program like Photoshop, you can get a fantastic phot up to A2 and beyond. And thanx from Cheeko hes been watching me all day today, I will be posting more pics tomorrow.
O2 thanx anyway, I will go into projects or something and find out, no rush tho, don't even know hwat to put on!!!

Lovely pictures and garden g'man . Lots of hard work and a beautiful Cheeko. My sister has a couple of Bichon Frise. I might have one myself next time as Chloe my yellow lab is getting on in years and I find her a bit of handful now I am too! Lol. You must have a beautiful outlook from there. I am quite envious.

    Hi Moyra,
    Yes lovely outlook,
    [IMG]
This is the view of the front of the cottage from across the road.
This was taken just as the gladies were about to bloom last year (wev'e only been in this house since November 2006) in a border I dug out at the front and discovered a 7foot long concrete lintol buried there.
Here are some pics of the front patio ongoing
Bottoming in place with temp shutter

    View from up the path

    View from front gate
    [IMG]
Concrete poured, path layed and sandstone wall built on a 4" concrete foundation.
Steps formed giving an idea of the slope of driveway. The patio still has a slight run to facilitate water run off

I ran out of cement at this stage and to be quite honest, I was completely done in, it was 6.30pm by this time and the Boss Woman was helping tidy up and multi tasking by cooking dinner. She's great at this multi tasking lark.
As you can see, I have a lot of slabs still to lay and then the serious bit starts with choosing what to plant in various pots and containers. I am determined to get it all done by the end of June so that we can get the good of the growing season.

You'll soon be rewarded for all this hard work GMan! The patio above is coming on a fair treat. Picture yourself and the Boss sitting there in August as the sun sets sipping Laphroig or something equally as mediciney!

Well done! I love your fluffy tulips too but the purple ones are something really special. I also rate aliums really highly, but sadly my slugs rate them even more than I do!

iT IS FASCINATING TO FOLLOW THROUGH ON SOMEONE ELSES PROJECT - ALL THE INTEREST WITHOUT THE HARD LABOUR! i WAS SAD TO HAVE ONLY COME ONTO THE FORUM JUST AS woo WAS ADDING THE FINISHING TOUCHES TO HIS WONDERFUL GARDEN - NOW i HAVE SOMEONE i CAN WATCH IN 'REAL TIME' !

oH b*LLCKS MUST HAVE PRESSED THE CAPS LOCK ....ARGHH....

Cheeko looks a right Cheeky Chappie!

    Thanx cookie and bobj.
I am indeed (as my mother used to say) in my 61st year and now have quite bad arthritic problems. I envy anyone who can get through a day without anti-inflammatories and painkillers. Still, we can't have everything and I don't complain(much). That is why I appreciate the Boss Woman's help at the end of the day 'cos when I start to feel the joints going, it's good to get help with the tidying up.
It's bank holiday weekend so I have an extra day to get on. I have just earthed up the potatos and watered the back garden, finished lunch, and now I'm going to cut the front grass and do the back hedge.

This is the front grass. I will have to measure it sometime today to find out the squre yardage. Compost bins here we come.

I'm sorry to hear of the arthritis Ginger - you wouldn't know looking at how you have moved mountains so far.

I think it must be a perennial problem with long term gardening. My mum has awful spinal arthritis and badly in her hands to - all that bending over, weeding. :( Most painkillers just don't cut the mustard do they?

PS Bob your kind PM to me about some different medication was lost in the changing of the board to the new format - could you be a dear and just send me that link again - I didn't get a chance to pass it on to mum in time... :o. So sorry for the inconvenience.

    Thanks my dear x

    Cookie,
The combination of dihydracodiene and co-codamol helps but not strong enough. If I took anything stronger, I would be walking about in a daze. I think the Boss Woman is of that opinion anyway.

Wow! Ginger, your garden can be in a show when it is all done. The terraces, slopes, path , nice bushes and the trees can make a beautiful landscape. With it's size and character it has a potential to win a prize.

    Gee mnw1let,
You'll have my head swollen with your sweet talk. I just want to make it look its best 'cos the previous owner sure didn't care about it. She paid a parks dept gardener to cut the grass twice a year. The terraces were buried under rubble and subsoil with grass sown over. It was just by chance that I discovered the old brickwork when I was digging out to form steps down to the lower level. When I discovered the old walls, I talked it over with the Boss Woman and we came up with the present design which has only changed slightly as it is progressing. Here are the latest pics of the top terrace.

Here are a couple of pics of the nesting box I put up at the beginning of May and I am pleased to report that it is now being used by a pair of Blue Tits who seem to be feeding young if the amount of activity is anything to go by.
It's really nice to see them flitting in and out of the wee house.

Anybody else got birds in residence? What kind of box do you have? did you build it yourself? is it in the garden or on the house? Give us all the benefit of the stories you have.
