    Hi All,

Forgive me as i'm posting on behalf of my father.

My fathers ageing solid fuel heater is now beyond repair and with winter approaching he is looking at investing in a new one. He has informed me that he wants to remain using solid fuel and this where the problem arises. My father lives in the North East of england and the only company i could find that sold them was based in Barnsley and are unable to deliver.

This is where i'm hoping that someone can direct me to a local supplier.

    Any help appreciated

    S

    Very reasonable prices too..
    or this place delivers too..

      Thank you for the reply.

I have looked at what my dad wants and it is a heater that stands outside the greenhouse and it has pipes that run down one side of greenhouse.

      is that any clearer?

Look forward to your reply as it is an interesting thing to look for & has made me look at other heaters too...!!!! :D  Is it more like the old Victorian greenhouse heating systems..??

Ok, ive just spoken to my father:

He has informed me that it is a heater (with a built in boiler) that heats water and it flows around the pipes that run down one side of greenhouse.

Foulstone Forge are the company that sell these.

      is that any clearer?

Hi S, thanks for the info, I have just been to their website bit cannot find any stoves or boilers there.. Surely though if it heats water that is circulated you could get any solid multi fuel boiler..?? Got a photo mate or a link so as I can look to see exactly what you are talking about as that would help immensely..:gnthb:

Sounds very like the heating system my dad had. He had a potting shed at one end of the GH in which was a stove with a water tank attached and then two large bore pipes (about 4") ran out and around the GH. Made for a very cosy potting shed and well heated GH. He worked in the coal industry and got free coal so heating costs weren't a problem, but they might be nowadays.

i know these boilers as i have one from the place in barnsley,in fact the boiler aint that heavy so fit in back of a car as i fetched mine in.
But they are the best ive had or seen as they can reach up to around 90 to 100 deq' if put inside the greenhouse and doubled piped with 4 inch pipes to a expansion box/tank.
be worth a drive down from north east to barnsley to pick one up.

      Resurecting an old thread

Have you thought of going to a scrappy/council tip,
Many people are having OLD BAXI BACK BOILERS removed and gas central heating put in (I did this a few years back)

Not into gardening then but now I kick myself, a nice fire with glass doors heating a water tank within, half inch copper pipe into a couple of radiators in the GH (after all it served eight radiatiors in the house) Plus with all the windfall trees I could run it for years for nothing now Think of all that free potash too

My Local tip is a once in never to come out again no matter how much you offer
SO a trip to Dundee Council tip is on the cards :)

Sadly all our tips are like that once in there they wont let it out,and some folks dump some very good useful stuff.
