snails

Hens and gardens don't go together.

When I was a tot my dad had laying hens, bantams and ducks,they used to follow me around like a dog, but then I always had tit bits for them.

Sorry I have none now!

 

I have put down pellets for a couple of weeks now (in moderate quantity as they suggest on the bottle) and it is the first time that I see something coming out from seed in the garden - FINALLY.
So far i couldn't explain why nothing would come up - other than seedling, indoors !
I cannot believe how the snails could devoure everything (that must have happended mostly in the night)...

 

A tennis racket is the answer for snails,go out on a damp evening pick them up and lightly volley them into a disliked neighbours garden we are lucky to have a substation at the back of us there's quite a layer of empty shells on top now the birds finish them of the following day,remember don't hit them too hard you get the hang of it after a bit and it's good excercise:D:D:D No problem with slugs frogs take care of them.

 

With respect to the wonderful advice by Walnut (I have some neighbours where I wouldn't mind throwing some snails into their gardens ) but I've got another approach. After asking some florists when we had the same problem, they came up with a pretty easy and cheap idea. Just stomp some egg shells and put them around your plants and the snails will die if they try to cross that line. It worked in our garden.
