Argos are selling garden obelisks as a BOGOF at £9.99.

    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/7201871/Trail/searchtext>OBELISK.htm

I bought a couple and they seem OK. A bit fiddly to assemble (lots of short tubes held together with nuts and bolts) but they seem reasonably robust for a free standing bean or pea wigwam.

The metal frame is plastic coated, so I guess that they should last 4 - 5 years. Anyone had any experience of these? I'm considering buying two more but don't want to throw my money away on tat.

No experience of them but a) They look OK and b) Argos stuff is usually OK. If they only last 3 years - WOW. That is £3.33 a year instead of £2.:D

I had 2 of these which I used for displaying containers [I put shelves on them]. They lasted ages and if, when you assemble them, you put grease into each joint, they would last even longer. You could even go mad and paint them with Hammerite! I think they are good value.

i bought a pair of these and had my sweet peas climbing up them once they are in the ground they make a good solid structure and are showing no signs of ageing but i did put a blob of paint on the nuts and bolts to stop them rusting and they look a lot better than canes

I gather that it is near the beautiful Greek Island of Domestos.
