It's sprung up massively in a week, due to the heavy rain last week. It has a sort of furry/sticky texture.

I cleared it and sprayed the area with RoundUp as I'm going away for a bit and don't want to come back to a forest, but I fear that my actions quite literally won't get to the root of the problem.

Any tips on getting rid of it?

    :D :D

I'm not sure I want to farming it.

Yes, I found it wasn't very deep rooted, but it was so tangled I'm sure a lot of it snapped at the base and left the roots. :-/

We used to call it sweethearts, and throw it at people we fancied....
I had loads of it in my garden when I first came here, it's a pain to pull up if there's a lot because it's kind of scratchy on the arms, but the good news is it doesn't seem to grow back all that much.

We had a discussion on this just last month. Round here it's called sticky buds. The problem with just pulling it is that the roots are very fine and it just breaks off, Then of course comes again. If you can spray it with a systemic it's worth it, but again, as the leaves are not huge to absorb it, it is difficult. Actually digging it out is best (as it usually is.) Whatever - it's a pain in the petunias.

The thing I love about this forum is .... I get answers. We too have this weed we call it 'sticky weed' and it beds itself in among the places where it's not easy to get to!! I agree with everyone - it breaks easily, it hurts your arms and it's a real pain in the rear! And yes, the only way is to pull it by the shallow roots ... ooh matron!

Well I'm pleased to say in just one day the Weedol seems to have got to work. The small tangled mess in the corner that I didn't get to pull up completely yesterday is now starting to go brown and shriveled.
