    Hi there,

I'm new to the forum and am looking for some help.

I live in a rented flat in London and I'm embarrassed by the state of our garden especially as the flats above us have the misfortune of looking over it too.

The garden, and I'm using the word in its broadest sense, is overrun by green alkanet (yes, I'm sure that's what is, I've done lots of checking on the web).

I've tried digging them up, but the roots alwats snap and they're back before I know it.

Apparently a Glyphosate weed killer will do the trick on it, but I'm worried that it may kill other plants in the garden - I found some lemon balm amongst the alkanet, which might be worth keeping (although it spreads quickly as well).

Does anyone know what the weedkiller will do to other plants? I'll need to spray it everywhere in the garden, e.g. lawn, flowerbeds etc.

Are there any other ways to get rid of it?

    Thanks for your help.

    Anto

Hi Anto, and welcome to the site. Glyphosate is translocated through the leaves of plants. As long as you keep it away from the leaves of plants you wish to keep, you will be fine. If you are using a normal sprayer ( and it`s much better to use a sprayer rather than watering can ), you can prevent this by using a piece of board as a guard.

    David,

Thanks so much for the quick response.

Clear and simple advice that someone new to all this can follow. Perfect.
