wild Fruit tree id?

    Hi Everyone
    Hope you dont mind trying another ID for me.
    while blackberry picking the week before last i came across these 2 trees, can anyone tell me what they are...and are they edible?

    Hi Samsoph.. The first are Sloes (Blackthorne Prunus spinosa) , :wink: for making Sloe Gin (Pink Gin).. The 2nd is the fruit from the Guelder Rose (Viburnum opulus).. These are edible in very small quantities as very very acidic...!! :wink:

    you can eat Viburnum opulus? :euw:

    I seem to remember that they smell very much like dog poo:hol:

    :lollol: So they say Aesculus, but I don't think I would want to eat them either..!!! Hadn't noticed that they smell, but there is a nasty smell about some of the Viburnums I agree.... :rotfl:

    I always thought opulus was sterile, so no one more surprised than me.:lollol::lollol::gnthb:
