    ... last week.

There were lots of them, most of them quite tall, along one of the main roads. I have tried finding them on the net but have had no luck, so I am hoping that someone on GC can help me. Thanks.

I collected some of the pods so do have some seeds, also some weeny treelets (about 2" tall) growing up through the iron grating around the trees.

However, since they seemed to have sprouted easily, I wonder if it is really suitable for a normal garden?

That was quick, Silver surfer! :gnthb:

Thank you very much, that is the tree we saw last week. After reading your links, I realized it is the same tree that we have seen in Florida. I wouldn't have thought that it would grow over here, but they were obviously thriving in Dresden. I think I just might have a go at growing one in our garden.

They also grow well in Britain. However, our summers are not hot enough to ripen the wood, therefore not as good for flowers or seed pods. Still a beautiful leaf though.

The seed pods I picked up only had a few seeds in them, not like on the pics you found.

I think I will pot one of the weeny treelets up and see if it grows.

Would anyone like a couple of the few seeds I have? The treelets don't look much but there are a couple left if anyone fancies one.

The pods I picked up only had one seed in each, two at the most. Perhaps they had fallen out. Some of the pods were brown, some still green. I obviously took the brown ones. Some of the seeds were still green, but now they are all dark. So I can't guarantee that anything will come of them if anyone wants some.

Oh, you have one of these beautiful trees! :gnthb: I potted mine up this afternoon and hope that one of them take. How long did yours take to grow, and how tall is it?

Cant work out why I dont see your pics Kedi, I dont think I've seen any since you came back from Florida.

They grow fairly fast but only flower well here in good summers, mines about 15ft high now, with a stem diameter of about 8inches.
I'm thinking very hard wood, maybe one day I will find out.:)

I always remember seeing a whole street lined with these in Moab, Utah.
I think they like it hot, but can take it cold during the winter.

That is very strange about you not having seen any of my pics for that long!

I was posting them from the Mac mini in Florida, since being back mainly from the Windows but also some from the Mac mini.

Is it just my pics that you can't see or some other peoples, too? Oh, we need a computer freak here to help.

The street in Dresden also had lots of them, all full of these pods - like in my pic at the top which you unfortunately can't see.

I'll e-mail you this pic twice, once from Windows and once from the mini. I wonder if you'll be able to see them then?

Pete, I see Sis's photos and lovely they are.

I am having massive problems wth GC at the moment, ie, I can't see ANY POSTS all day long and it says I am the only one on line ... :hehe: .... and there have been no new posts for two days (even my own) ... :skp: :dh: then they magically appear for an hour and then disappear again ... NO, I'm not on the G&T as this happens in the morning, noon, night ... :cnfs:

I'm sure it's all the new updates of late .... :help:
