Goldfish Ilness of some sort

    No intrinsic difference from fish you buy or catch to eat (apart from not being opened up very tidily - wouldn't look good on a plate.... :wink: )

    I had a very big koi go like that a few months ago.
    I was told it was dropsy
    Capney
    Shame that fish looks so healthy, they normally have some signs of something on them, very strange.

    Dropsy it almost certainally was. No more problems for the remaining old fish. Shortly after the above posts something came and took almost all the remaining fish leaving small parts of 3 bodies. Whatever it was came back a week or so later and took the remaining 2 fish. My neighbour who has a really large pond has lost all his fish more or less the same time. As we live on the bank of the River Severn (my pond is 40m from the water) we think it may have been a Otter or Mink although we have never seen either.
