    Morning imp. :)

As you have now discovered, I had already started a thread in Non-Gardening Discussions (as here we are talking computers/software and not gardening) regarding helping each other with tips and advice.

I wonder how we can marry the two now. ???????

Hurray, we have our logo back and the lovely green and purple. :thumb:

One thing I'll say here .... if you add a new title to your message, that appears (I think) and not the original title which can become confusing and people could get more lost than they already are.

vBulletin is sooooooooooooooooo good and has so much more to offer than just the standard install, if the admin want to they can extend the user experience far more than anyone thinks possible by installing a select few of the many available "addons" from the vBull site.

I've personally worked as staff on a few vBull installs as a coder both installing and writing addons for it, a favourite thing for me is how vbull can post RSS feeds into new topics, giving news directly to a forum. Fantastic stuff!! There are of course many many more than just that.

    Steve...:)

Seems like a good place to put thisand hope Duncan picks it up.

New posts (which I have as my home page on both machines) is fine on the Linux machine but never shows 'new posts' properly on the XP machine. Both on the same router (obviously). any comments?

Can you give a little more information? by "never shows 'new post' properly" - is this not formatting on screen or not listing the right ones or some other kind of display error?

Are you accessing through both systems with one log in?

The 'New Posts' page is a cached page so having that as a home page is not going to show the newest threads. It uses a different search id every time so needs to be accessed anew each time.

Hi Duncan. Even when the Linux machine is switched off I am having problems with the XP one. When I kick in Firefox (which I use on both machines) my home page just tells me that there is an error. On the Linux machine no problem. It just lists the latest posts. I can get 'New posts' on the XP machine by going to GC home and moving from there but occasionally it just lists the last half dozen posts, not the usual 2 or 3 pages. If I refresh the page with f5 it does not refresh or alter. With Linux - no problems, don't even need to refresh.

Just switched my home page to GC home and went in to 'new posts'. It has listed 8 of them.

As I said, the New Post page is cached and wont actually add any new posts to it.

if you keep refreshing that page it will not change.

What errors on XP - can you put up a screenshot ?

Evening, pete ... the smilies appear where you have your curser sitting .... :)

A hyperlink is the means to connect to another link on the internet.
