    Paladin,
Here is a picture of the pile of sandstone that I am going to use on the build.
    Last week.

    This week.

This is the intended site of the wall, I don't know whether to leave the kerbs in or take them out.

This is slightly uphill from the intended wall

The weather is holding up progress but bringing on the growth in the borders and planters.
Here is my obelisk last week

    And this week

The prop is off a decomissioned fishing boat based in Girvan. I bought it from a scrap dealer after asking him to find me something unusual to put up as a feature. Just so happens, that I was an apprentice at the boatyard where the boat was built. It therefore is part of my past. I have the butterchurn ready to use in the same area, renovated last month. This also is part of my "history Line" 'cos I was brought up on a farm for the first few years of my childhood and my mother used to make butter in a churn almost exactly like this one.

The finial is from a bed head I spotted ready to go in a skip. I asked for the two finials and was told to just take them -result.:gnthb:
I don't know how long they will last but will re-coat when needed.:thumb:

Paladin, do you think that I am mad? The OH would kill me if I took it inside the house.:(
Only kidding:hehe: BTW can you give me some tips on the stone dressing? I am keen to get started before the winter arrives and if the changes to the weather paterns are anything to go by, then it won't be long. I will probably dig the founds this coming week as I have some concreting materials arriving on Mon morning. Would you leave the kerb stones in for extra strength and protection from car wheels knocking the wall?

I have bought a couple of stone block moulds and a coping stone mould for making materials to build a wall where I have some flimsy railings at the moment so the concreting materials are for this also. I am going to build the wall two course thick so the blocks will be back-to-back and tied with wall ties. The copes from the mould are wide enough to cover double thickness with a good overhang for drips.

I will post a couple of pics of the part of the drive I intend the block wall to be at and you will be able to comment.

    Paladin,
Here's the pic of the "railing" that's to be replaced by block wall and would really apreciate any advice on dressing sandstone.
