Well, Dave W, I've already been thinking ... [IMG] Maybe I could photo my brain ... no comments, please ... and enhance it a bit. :D

    :D
My orginal thought had been "Simple by Nature" but I abandoned it because I didn't think that submitting a self portrait would win me any votes ;)

But you always produce something pretty stunning Marge, you've got a very well developed eye for composition and colour. [IMG]
What I was hoping to do with this theme is to encourage folk to create simple compositions and use enhancement in a way that emphasises the subject. It will be interesting to see what folk come up with.

    Go for it Dee!
The more the merrier. Post a/some photo/s. You can always replace it/them if you take better ones before the end of the comp.
The competitions are as much about learning than winning and the more photos posted, the more we can all learn from each other's ideas, interpretations and skills.
What I'd like to see is some really constructive critical comment about photos, but it's quite a sensitive area as everyone on GC is so nice, and being critical (even in a positive sense) doesn't really fit the ethos of the site. However if anyone wants to make constructive suggestions regarding how I might improve MY photos, I'll be more than pleased to consider and discuss them. And if anyone wants my critical comments I'll be pleased to give them on the understanding tha I'm no expert and can only say what I like or don't like or how I think an image might be improved.
Oh dear - sounds like a rant, but it isn't meant to be. Honest!

    I have said before.
I would welcome others views about my photos.
    Good and bad.
I have only just started and it would help me a great deal to hear what others have to say.
To point me in the right direction.
    Everyone sees things differently.
    I don't offend easily. :D

Seriously LOL - You've got an outlet for your paintings so it might be worth thinking about and investigating printing and selling cards. I've seen many cards on sale that are not nearly the same quality as 'Simplicity' and with your artistic talent you could easily produce several very marketable cards each year.

Dave, my "outlet" possibly goes into new hands the first of the year so we'll see if the new owners "keep me" although I understand they want to expand further.

I do have a good printer but I'll have to see what the new year brings. Various folk have said my photographs of the Algarve in Country Life could be postcard quality. Is this viable? Perhaps the new year will direct me from painting to photography ... who knows ??????????
