Picture's a bit blurry Nathan! But I think it's a type of purple vetch which is a member of the pea family but, sadly, not a sweet pea!

I also agree it's a Vetch, but I won't venture as to which one as we have so many wild here ... lovely in the countryside.

I would say it was vetch. A hard weed to get rid of. Don't let it flower and seed. It's quite resistant to weedkiller as the leaves are like waterproof - weed killer just runs off, like mare's tails. Don't want to be alarmist but if it's vetch I would get on the case straight away.

Hi Nathan7 i planted a great number of sweet pea's this year. i noticed after a while there were what looked like sweet pea's, were not sweet pea's:skp:. they were actually growing Faster than the sweet pea's and did not have Tendrils ,they looked like a ground creeper :(. i decided to pull the whole lot of the allien plant out. Glad i did ,the plant had massive long roots when i seen the roots i made certain i got the lot out from the ground. i dont have a clue as to what the plant was all i know is IT IS GONE :D.
    music .
