[IMG] How about we have a 2nd competition..???
I thought it would be rather nice to have a "Creative Computer Art Competition"..???

There are some super pics being put together now..
I will run it along side the Photo Comp.
It would be along the same lines as the photo comp i.e.
You can each enter 3 pictures.
We all get to vote at the end of the month.
A theme is chosen for the following month by the winner...
It would be "anything goes" no restrictions...
What do you all think......??? [IMG]

    Thanks
    Marley.

I am willing to join in with it and for those that dont have any software perhaps they could download this free one that scotkat used yesterday to produce a picture..

    http://www.richardrosenman.com/software/downloads/

I also think it was a good idea of dendrobiums to have a free photo comp where people could enter anything just for fun and maybe put it in the photography section to keep it seperate..its all just fun..
I am not sure about having a title for the creative art competition.. or too many rules and regulations as that would put a dampner on it as we all have our own styles..

    Good idea Marley!
I've only one suggestion regarding "rules" and that is the photos should be taken during the current month. This would maintain a challenge to go out and take photos.
I'm ambivalent as to whether there should be a monthly theme or not, though a broadly garden/wildlife/nature bias would seem appropriate for a GC competition.

    [IMG] Hi Dave,
I was just putting the basic idea up... Good idea.. It is up to the members if they want it & how they would like it to run.....
Let's see what other ideas we get as well... [IMG]

Glad to see the lines I was thinking along are what others think too.

I'm all in favour, so NOBODY feels excluded. Dave's suggestion of the "go out and take the photo this month" is right, though.

I think it is a great idea too and agree with DW. Probably need the theme to be set by the winner (got to win something) otherwise it will be difficult to judge the interpretation, as pictures may vary in theme more than usual. Would also like to remind people that we don't have to be competing to show off our photos in the members gallery, played with or otherwise :D

I would encourage people to have a go at both comps. I wouldn't want to see enthusiasm drop from the current monthly competition, or the new one used as a protest vote. Its good to try new things and I love the current fun we have each month [IMG]

With regards to the Comp Art comp, I would be in favour of a 'theme' each month, personally I would prefer a bit of a guideline. It would be fun to see how everyone would interpret a topic with their own styles.
Are we thinking of running the other comp so that anyone can enter anything including Comp Art stuff, or would they be separate comps?

Is this free for all going to be creative art and any sort of picture taken or am i reading it wrong ?? or are we going to have 3 competitions the normal one a creative art one and a free for all photo..if so perhaps they should be split around the site the free for all going in the photography section and the creative art one in the hobbys ..as people may get confused...??

[IMG] I think 2 seperate competitions..
The "Photo Competition" as it stands & a 2nd competition for "Creative Art".....

If you have ideas as to how you would like it to run then let me know...

These are my thoughts so far....
    Monthly theme.....
Each person can enter up to 3 pics...
Members vote at the end of the month...
    Winner chooses following months theme...

[IMG] So let me know what you would like for a "Creative Art Comp"... ;) :D

The competitions would stay in the " Members Gallery" as that is the place to host them & would keep it all together without making it difficult or disjointed... [IMG]

Suppose a 'Cr*p picture comp' is out of the question for my pics???? :D :D

Well why don't we all just 'suck it and see' for a month and if "creative art" proves to be too wide in interpretation the parameters could be changed next time round.
Just one minor suggestion - "creative photography" rather than "creative art" as there is already a section on GC which is pretty well subscribed covering the "arty" rather than "photographic" aspects of creative imaging.
I quite like Windy's idea for a photographic boob category, but that could easily be incorporated in the main monthly competition with entrants being allowed to submit one "boob" in addition to the other three photos.

So long as it was clearly labelled as such, Dave - just magine how offended people would be if they were awarded the wooden spoon for a serious entry..... :D

I've just tried to download "evaluate" and the border maker from that link, WF, but can't open them. Any suggestions? It says that the file-type isn't recognised.

dendrobium..I dont know as scotkat used that link to make her picture yesterday i will go and look for you if i cant work it out then you will have to ask scotkat..
I agree that their should just be a second photography competition and not creative art as we are okay as we are in the hobbies section..and open for everyone to join in with us its not a competition in their its a place where we all help each other by sharing photos and tips..
a second photo competition where anything goes would be quite interesting..as people could do still art work and manipulate their photos to please themselves..

Dendrobium i just looked and i dont know how to work it either but their is also this one ..
    http://www.gimp.org/

but i would ask scotkat as she used the other one yesterday..
they have also got paint shop 8 at amazon for £8.94 its got everything you need in it..
