OK, have plantd a clematis and 3 honeysuckle. Should i be watering them every day or just now and then? (North Wales has been very wet this summer)

Also, it says to cover the base/ roots of hte plants with organic matter: why should i do this, ansd what is good to use?

    Thanks

Presumably you've planted them in the garden, not in pots?

Yes, you need to water them everyday, even if it has been raining. Other plants/trees/shrubs may well be taking the rain water themselves and young plants get thirsty.

Clematis like their feet (roots) to be in shade and their heads in sun - the easiest way to do this is with other plants planted in from of them or use broken bits of pots or stones piled over the top of the soil where they've been planted.
