I bought these two for £12 through the Council site. I had two 4'x4'bins where they are sited ,a wooden and a mesh one. The waste material took a good year to compost down in them and I'm hoping the new ones will work a lot faster as I recycle everything possible.

They look good Pal, I like the little hatch thingy that you can lift up and get the compost out. Mine haven't got this feature so I have to trowel it out or lift off the bin completely to get at the lovely stuff.

I too compost everything and have some lovely red worms in there.

I read somewhere that now is the time to dig compost into the borders, I would have thought it was too early, what do you all think?

They look good Paladin. My fear with bins is what do you do when they are full, but haven't yet rotted down.

Just leave them PeterS until they have turned to compost. It does take quite a time so be patient. And from a full bin it seems to rot down to nothing, but when you actually spread it around there is more than you first thought there was...!!!

I don't tend to "mix" mine much either as it's quite difficult but it still rots down without my help.

The worms do a wonderful job.

I spread the contents of two bins today on the borders.I would normally have done so weeks ago before any frosts in an attempt to keep warmth in the soil, but I haven't been able to get in the garden, and thankfully we have not had a single frost yet...so bring it on JACK,I'm ready for you now!! :D

Get some worms on the job Pal and Peter. They really do make a heck of a difference to the speed of composting. Our two main bins never really get full as there's always some compost at the bottom to take away.

Dave,I always have a 'working'plastic bin that steams up a treat and add a few fork fulls from it to the other bins. I just thought that using much bigger sealed composters would speed things up all together especially the heavier garden waste.
