I am an excited girl today!! Hubby brought me a large walk in plastic covered greenhouse (to get me started!) and we'll be putting it up this afternoon (weather permitting) when I get back from work. I am chomping at the bit to get started in it. And if I manage to prove to the inlaws and hubby that this isn't a passing phase ( how rude of them! :lollol: ) then I might be getting a 'real' greenhouse for Christmas!! :yho:

So, wish me luck, my real gardening adventure starts now!! :cutflwrs:

Thanks JWK. I'm hoping to bring on some Primrose Rosebuds, some Pansy's (but for the life of me I can't remember which variety), for the Autumn Winter season. My Mother in Law is a very keen gardener, so we got our heads together and made a list for Jersey plants Direct. So hopefully they'll be with me sometime in the next couple of weeks. It'll give me time to sort out all the staging, and the seed trays I'm going to need.
I'm also going to have a go (though I might have left it a little late) at growing some Maris Peer potatoes in time for Christmas!

I'm very lucky, we have a really large garden, just under an acre to be exact; but most of it is laid to lawn at the moment, with just borders around the perimeter. But, I'm hoping to alter that over the coming years, and add more detail and interest into it. Once my son gets back from his holiday and gives me back my camera, I'll be able to post some pictures of the garden. It's in my eye, in a right state, but it's coming together, slowly! No point in rushing it, as mistakes can be costly, and I want to think about areas, rather than just rushing in, spade first!! hehehe.

    I'll keep you posted!

Good luck Jools - you prove them wrong girl:D

I started off with a small plastic covered greenhouse and have advanced on to a lovely cedar one. Believe me gardening is a bug and once bitten it's in your blood.

Thank you all, for all the good luck messages. :)
I dare say that I'll be asking a lot of questions along the way.
Ooo, and I noticed, that there's a Beginners Garden Development section, I should have put this in that area really, so do please move this thread to there, if you feel it's better suited for discussion on that board.

Penny, I will add photos as soon as I can. My son is on Holiday in Florida at the moment, (lucky so n so!) and he snaffled my camera to use along with all the memory sticks, so I don't have the ability to take any at the moment!! Give me two weeks though, and that'll all change!! You'll all be bored ridged with the pictures I post!

    Good Luck Joolz.
My greenhouse is my sanctuary. I talk to the plants and the bees in there and love to be in there at any time. Often me and the plants listen to Radio2 as well.
and yes, I know I am mad. :-)

Good luck Joolz. Once you start growing stuff from seed there are absolutely no limits.

For me the joy is that you can either grow interesting individual plants, or you can grow plants for the border in quantities that you could never afford to buy at a garden centre.

    Hello Joolz
Best of luck with the weather and the new greenhouse. I recently bought my first greenhouse and although there is not much apart from tomatoes and a few fuschia cuttings in it as yet, the electrics will be in soon and it will be all set up for the winter.
