Looks like Salix caprea Kilmarnock. Common name Kilmarnock willow.

    Very healthy it looks to.

    http://www.google.co.uk/images?q=Salix%20caprea%20Kilmarnock.&rls=p,com.microsoft:en-gb:IE-ContextMenu&oe=UTF-8&rlz=1I7SUNA_en-GB&redir_esc=&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi&biw=1255&bih=537

It can be rather ugly. Ours is by the back door. The only reason I leave it is for the birds.

Put a feeder next to it. The birds love to land on it, and pop over to the peanuts and seeds. They can also hide in it if a bird of prey comes over.

I have one of these in the new garden and I did Marley Farleys Step 3 advice in the late spring here. The Growth is tremedous and nearly back down to the floor again. I found when I did it that the middle was totally dead so clearing that out I think helped it.

I was going to say a Kilmarnock Willow also grows in Aberfeldy :o)

    DELETED... AS POST NOW DELETED

    Marley Farley. Sorry to differ.
I have found the site where you have copied the exact words. However, this site is incorrect.

    http://www.jprwillow.co.uk/salix_caprea_pendula.htm

The Kilmarnock willow is Salix caprea Kilmarnock not Salix cinerea. It is a male clone.

I always thought if you copied from sites on www you are breaking copyright law.
The only one that it is legal to copy chunks from is wiki.
Other wise you have to show it as a link.

Nope Surfer, I can't help you there.. I haven't copied it from any site.. I was sent that info when I had my tree given to me.... Oh & yes I do know about copyright laws.....
I followed that advice & had no problems.. So if you found that information somewhere as I see you did then I apologise .. As you will see I have deleted that post to save further problems..
