    Tonight we have fireworks!
Since about 6.30 p.m. non-stop there have been continuous bangs and whistles.
Can't make out who exactly it is but they must have a lot of money to waste!

Pity the poor cats and dogs, and young children, that are frightened of them as it is not 5th yet!

Jjordie, they have been going off all night out my backs. The dogs are going ape but mr.fiz is still sleeping like a baby.
Dfor dog in particular was afraid of the noise(when he could hear)But little milly has got him worried with her darting about all over.
Like you i can`t actually see them.I even went up to young fiz`s bedroom window to have a look see,but no joy. I know i sound like a misery but i just don`t like the noise. It makes me afraid for people i can`t even see.

We have been getting them for over a month now don't know were all this new legislation is,they should only be allowed on the fifth and only sold under licence, can't understand how they ban displays through elf and safety legislation insurance etc when they let any moron buy them and set them off for months on end,I saw some rockets for sale yesterday they were the size of exocet missiles I dread to think where the spent cases come down, the potential for injury and damage is so great still nobody does anything, still going off at midnight here and there.

We have been having the odd few go off all last week and last night we had one display in someones garden.Tonight is our village Firework party but we are not going because they are not having their usual large bonfire, because they are holding it on the site near the village hall so they can get revenue in from all the drinks sold, and they don't want to burn the grass on the sports field.Bonfire night isn't the same with out a good bonfire  :(

Tesco's have been selling fireworks for weeks and even the garden centres are selling them now.I do like to see them go up but not these big monster ones they are letting off these days.

I wonder what Guido Fawkes would make of it all.

We will probably have fog as well first thing tomorrow from all the bonfires being lit tonight [IMG]

I agree with walnut. I'm going trick or treating next July 7th. Anybody coming?

Some idiot let off a firework one day last week at 4 a.m. It woke my neighbour (who is recovering from a recent heart attack) up through double glazing and Ed, my dog started howling which woke us. I found the case later in the day and it must have cost about £5 for that one BANG. These idiots have more money than sense. But then, that wouldn't take a lot of money.

Hmm! Understand the complaints. My g-daughter's B'day was on 1st November and we always give her a little display to celebrate it. We always tell the neighbours (in this area, that tells everyone) and make sure that's it's early. I do think that no-one should set them off after 9 p.m. other than New Years Eve. Bit afraid of banning them, 'cause, as a smoker, I'm a bit fed up with the P.C. brigade so now I'm of the opinion that you don't bann anything without good scientific evidence. Only an opinion [IMG]

I can say that I prefer fireworks from a distance, as I am not so keen on loud noise in general...

Can anyone tell me how to type with a big fat staffie sitting on your knee trembling? This is past a joke. It started in earnest on Friday night and we are still getting 'bang! whee!' till gone midnight. At 3 a.m. I have to get up and let Ed into the garden because he daren't go before then. It's bad enough smokers trying to give me a heart attack without the bang-bang boys adding to it.

Well, if you get a cat, they just curl up in the most comfortable place, indoors and just go to sleep. When they feel happy they just bxxxxr off outdoors again. Sc, expelled ciggie smoke doesn't give you a heart attack, your diet does. Check it out. [IMG]

    John and Woo,

Try next year getting a D.A.P. plug in, it's a dog appeasing pheramone difuser, it gives off the same pheramone as the mother would to calm her pups. It is also useful for long journeys if your dogs don't travel well, you can also get it in spray form.

Some Vets will also give out sedatives but it's not a route i would go down. They basically paralyse the poor animals so that they can't react although they are still totally aware of what is going on. Some larger breeds can have an adverse reaction to it and get a bit snappy too.

Another idea is to try 'pre-finding' a dark, warm spot such as a cupboard under the stairs and adding an item of your clothing to the bed. It works very well for some, 3 of mine prefer this method but the 4th gets rather stressed and just likes to be around me and sleeps with one of my old jumpers :D

    Just a thought.......
