    Hi there, newbie here.

Im not really a greenfinger but do like to put a few things in the garden to enjoy the growth and end product.

This year ive been trying to grow some pumpkins, and they sprouted really well, the male and female flowers have been really nice and it seems that pumkins are trying to grow from the female plants.

The problem is the pumpkin falls off the stalks once the flower has died and i cant seem to get a pumpkin to grow any bigger than a ping pong ball.

Bot sure what the problem is the plants look healthy and the pumpkin does too, however, they just keep falling off the stalk???

what is the probel what am i doing wrong., ive even brushed the male to the female when the flowers have opened.

    cheers.

The reason can only be lack of pollination.

Once one or two have set the rest might abort but until one or two set, the reason can only be pollination.

I think pollination needs to be done early, its a morning only thing, sounds daft I know but most flowers are spent by midday.

Good point from pete - leave the male flower in the female to let insects continue transferring the pollen. Sometimes I've nipped open a female flower first thing in the morning to force things along.
