Any ideas to disguise a drain cover in the middle of my lawn appreciated.

    Cheers.

Hi Jag I made a container the same dimensions as the cover and have some Cerastium planted in it,if I need to gain access to the cover I can just lift it out of the way:)

There'll be lots of suggestions and retaining easy access is the obvious key.

You could dig a small border around the drain cover and plant it up with something which will spread fully or partially over the cover but still alow access if needed. There would be so many plants to choose from. As an example in the past I've used Dianthus Deloides then placed a large pot on the cover contaning various plants, some of them trailing in nature to help with the disguise.

Assuming it`s the usual, oblong manhole cover, then just visit your nearest independent garden centre and buy a manhole planter.:gnthb:

Got a bakery shop near you? I find one of their plastic baskets fits exactly over the manhole cover on my patio. A bit of plastic in the bottom and away you go. Or how about building a 'raised bed' (with a base) from a couple of deck boards?

It might be a bit more elaborate than you want Jag but I worked on a project earlier this year. I had to conceal not one but four drain covers so I designed two tear-drop shaped beds with a gravel path between. I've just taken pictures of it and and, though I say it myself, it looks stunning!

Where are the four drain covers then in that picture? I know, concealing them was the whole idea, so well done, but would like to know where they were!

They're under the gravel so it obviously worked! They weren't huge but were ugly. Now, all the client has to do is scrape off the gravel if access is needed.

    Grasstop Manhole Covers

    Hi There,

Here at Combined Harvesters we provide a manhole cover for the middle of Grass sections, we call it the Grasstop Manhole Cover and can grow grass from seed inside the manhole, meaning no more unsightly inspection chambers in the middle of the lawn.

www.combinedharvesters.co.uk or call 0151 639 0880 tyo ask for more details.

    Thanks Mike Wiggins
