    Hi Guys
I was thinking of going along to a Gardening Club meeting once a month a few miles away I only started gardening about a year ago after moving to a house with a much bigger garden which only had grass. I dont know most plants names and buy plants just because I like the look of them then find out they are not suitable for position or soil type etc. This forumn is really great for info and I would really like to learn more & but feeling a bit worried about going along to a club and they are all gardening boffins & me being a novice not knowing anything.
What do you guys think? do any of you go to Garden Clubs?

Get yourself along, you'll have a whale of a time. Knowledge and experience has no bearing on anything really. People are always learning and will always learn. No one will ever know everything, some are experts in one field (pun intended) and clueless in others while some people have a general, good all round knowledge. Hopefully you'll meet a well balanced group of people with different knowledge bases which you can tap into and learn from. If there's one person there who comes across as if they know it all, trust me, they don't.

Don't be daunted. Let people know you're a beginner and enjoy yourself. If you're interested in something you'll be amazed at how much you pick up in a short period of time.

    Have fun.

Hi Beachlover, as wiseoldowl said, the club meet is a great way to meet like minded
people and you will make new friends. we all start as novices but you will learn by
asking questions. let them know you are a novice and they will be more than happy
to help as will the members of this forum, whatever your question someone will probably be able to answer it for you. by the way, welcome to GC.

I can only reiterate what the others have said. Gardening clubs are the best way to get into gardening. :gnthb:

Been thinking about joining my local Horticultural Society for a while now. Just slightly worried I'd be the youngest there..... by about 40 years!

Andrew, your age is completely irrelevant, you are all interested in the same thing and age won't come into it. go for it you'll be suprised.

We joined the local Gardening club a couple of years ago and enjoy the meetings as much for the friendship as the gardening information. Go ahead as others have said you can't lose.....
