    Here I go again. [IMG]

This plant is growing all along the walkways at the of one of the garden centers I go to (entirely outdoors). A couple of months ago I asked one of the chaps what it was and he said "a weed" but didn't know what kind. I plucked a small seedling and pocketed it ... [IMG]

This little chappie is about 25cm tall now, the ones at the center are about a meter tall and almost as much wide. They little flowers cluster like a Lantana, but it's not I can assure you. Those are new buds and not berries by the way.

Any guesses as I'm cultivating this one. :D

    Thank you in advance. [IMG]

Agreed - Asclepias curasavica or Scarlet Milkweed. I've grown it here a few times and it makes a brave show of flower for much of the summer. Eventually the last one became shaded out by the big banana clumps, which until recently threatened to overtake the borders. Now they've been ripped out, I'll have more sun [IMG] for more brightly coloured things :D

I had a spell of trying to establish asclepias tuberosa, without any luck.
That one of yours though LoL, I can understand it being classed as a weed in Portugal, it seeded itself in all my pots. :D
    Its a nice plant though.

Pete, it can fight with the yellow Oxalis and the pink Oneanthus which is just starting to bloom ... should be very colourful then. :D

It is lovely, borrowers and I can't imagine who you've upset ... should I get it going, I'll send you some seed. [IMG]

So do I David and bor, thats why I bought one in the first place.
Its not a weed in the UK, but as I say, due to how easily it self seeds, I can understand it being a weed in warmer climates. [IMG]

I saw on another link strongy where Monarchs are attracted to them ... not that I need any more of them with my Lantana, Poinsettia, Euryops, etc, etc ... I'd like to attract more Scarce Swallowtails. :D

Made a note of those of you who like this "weed" ... well, I call it my wildflower, just in case I get seeds. [IMG]

    Definition of a weed..

A weed is a plant growing where man does not want it to be. Almost any kind of plant can therefore be a weed as long as it exist in a location or situation where it is considered undesirable.
It also follow that a kind of plant may as a weed in one situation and not a weed in another situation E.g Volunted Sweat Potato plants in a crop of maize can rightly be Called weeds even though sweet potato crop normally planted.

If you like it - keep it!
