I took these two photos of a lovely wild flower when I was walking in the Lake District the other week.

Does anyone know what it is? The flower was less than one inch diameter.

According to my Readers Digest Field Guide to Wild Flowers they could be Grass-of-Parnassus{Parnassia Palustris} named after Mount Parnassus in Greece which was sacred to Appollo,God of music.

I haven't got any photo's of the leaves so may be wrong in this identification [IMG]

Kandy, I took mine when I was up at Tarn Hows. I haven't got any photos of the leaves either.

On closer viewing it looks as though you photographed the same flowers - spooooky!!!

Hi Kandy, we'll think about it too but they seem to need wet conditions. I wonder whether they would like it in our orchard in the very mossy area. That's probably the wettest part of our garden.

    Thanks MF.

Shiney, they would be ok for us as our North border at the bottom of the garden is very wet so they would be happy there. We have managed to grow for the last two years Ragged-Robin[Lychnis flos-cuculi} and it is shedding it's seeds everywhere with a little help from me so it might be worth trying to try this beautiful little plant [IMG]

PS.Our orchard is nine miles away over at our allotment [IMG]
