GG - Fuschia can do some funny things. I had one where some of the petals got confused over whether they were petals or leaves. The half nearest the stem was a pink petal, but half way towards the tip it turned into a green leaf. I wonder if you have the same thing. The little white spikes at the bottom look more like a leaf tip than a petal.

I think this sort of behaviour is similar to fasciation. Nobody really knows why it happens. see http://www.gardenerscorner.co.uk/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=003117

Hi GG - I have had that happen occasionally on a double fuchsia. If you manually reflex back the sepals, then the flower should continue as it should. If you watch a fuchsia open, its the outer sepals that open before the flower fully forms- rather like a rose. Sometimes they seem to stick.
