This bush I inherited and I don't remember it fruiting in January before.

    It's identification would be appreciated.

Hi Platty, looks like some sort of viburnum, possibly tinus.

I can always tell the difference between V tinus and V davidii, because the davidii has the berries and the tinus doesn't.

now I am hopeless at names, but I am sure the V. Davidii has bigger dull blue type leaves with crinckles in, I have just been pruning round mine today and it has just started to flower.

Doesn't look like my V tinus, woo. I wonder if we have the upper hand on our Nurseryman?

My "all knowing book" only says that V davidii has berries .... strongy?

There are 4 types of Tinus that I know of
    Tinus Eve Price/Tinus Purpureum/Tinus varigarta.
There are some berry difference in male and female species. What ever the outcome It looks a very healthy shrub. [IMG]

Want me to send you the berries and flowers LOL :D :D I have three Viburnum tinus - all three giants, all three in flower, and all three still have fruit from the autumn.
