Identify the tree

I got given this tree from someone but have no idea what it is.

Any idea?

Definitely ash, biggest weed tree I have come accross, they are huuuuuuuge and seed like buggery :D

 

Hi, BM - glad you agree! It's one of my most frequent weeds!

 

They are nice when they are small or hedged and nice when they are large in a huge estate. We have one up the road and it it at least 50+ feet tall. It grows right next to the fellas house, and talking to him one day he said they are deep rooted so was not concerned about subsidence. :eek: I love trees and push tree planting distances to the limits but he is an absolute NUTTER! It must be twice the height of his house! :eek: :D

About 3 years ago he had it cut down by at least a third and I swear its as big again already.

 

Yes, they are definitely very free seeding and fast growing. They make great long strong shoots to make plant supports though, try letting it grow and coppicing it.
