Identify Shrub

Spotted these at work today and was surprised by the twisting branches and yet the compact shape.
The larger one is 4ft high and smaller about 2ft.

Quite fancy one like that

 

can't make out from your photos if the branches are opposite or not - 'cos they look like either acers or cherries of some dwarf sort to me! Agree, though - they're really interesting looking, and a nice feature for the winter, even without leaves, etc.

Behind the camera it's not so nice...We are gutting a house :D

 

If leaves opp - it's an acer (as it's def not an ash!)if not, could be anything!

 

Suppose a closer pic will help....will get one tomorrow if I'm on that site.

 

A bit difficult to tell from your pic but this is a miniture Fuji Cherry I planted last year, Prunus incisa Kojo-no-mai. If that's what you have there it's a beautifull little border tree and will be coming into bud now.

did you find out any more about this Paladin? I'd like to know too!

 

Owner tells me it's an Acer...He saw it in the Autumn when he bought the house and it had orange leaves!!!..seems he knows as much as me about it then! Doesn't have a plant list either which is a pity because he offered me twenty five Rose bushes he wants rid of..I only took two!
Seems he hasn't really got room for the Roses in his 35 ACRE plot!!! :D

 

If I only had 35 acres, dont think I would have room for roses either. :D :rolleyes:

 

I have to admit he impressed me with the plans he has for the place,and if he spends half as much on landscaping as he is on the house,well!!! :eek:
Thoses two Cypress trees are going for a start :D
and about fifty other softwood trees out of shot to the left which will make for wonderful views.
I'll get a "before" pic and hope for an"after"one.

 

But do people ever spend that much on their gardens, unless they're garden nuts like us lot?!
Most people seem to spend a forftune on the house, and have a bit of grass and pots!

 

Ah but gardeners aren't most people :D My house would be a model of a designer house instead of a scruffy comfortable home,if I had spent as much on it as I have on plants and my garden. Even housework (which I dislike) always takes second place when the garden calls - guests should always warn me before calling :D

 

I agree Fran, my house is a tip at the moment as we have had so much to do outside and i love getting grubby, we have spent three times the amount onthe garden as the house.

 

House work is what you do when its raining...
Or I cook which just makes me fat...
When the sun shines I am out there like any normal gardener..(person)and have a sandwich... :D :D :D
