bit blurry on the big picture but the leaves show up ok. Its quite a large bush that regrows quickly. I cut it down by more than half last year and its come back massive.Just have not got a clue what it is.

I am not really sure but it's growth habit is alarming. Where are you located? It looks and sounds like blackthorn.

Had loads of white flowers this year. Looks like the second link from Silver Surfer. Not quite as many flowers as in them pics but definatly the same ones.It just takes up so much space and shades a lot of the lower plants. I dont know whether to cut it out though as it masks a bit of a gap in the conifers behind it. The hedge stuff behind it in the top pic though has filled a lot of the gaps in the conifers this year. Might take another year for it to fill the gap behind this bush. Thanks for the help.

Does it have white berries? Because, like Pete, I was thinking Symphoricarpus. v. Hancock. ( Snowberry ).:thumb:

I think silver surfer is right. I cut one down last year and THOUGHT I had killed the stump but I see it is growing again. I saw it this afternoon and the leaves are the same It doesn't flower well and to me has no grace or beauty about it. Put something else in. There are some much nicer spireas than that.

Sorted the bush out today. Got some of the hedging plants to grow inits place to cover the gap in the trees.
