No, Blackthorn, as to the price. Any guesses on the plants? [IMG]

Thanks LOL - I really haven't done well in getting my 10 plants in place!

Now, this lot look really difficult to me, but here are my guesses...

    salvia
    black eyed susan
    verbena
ivy-leaved pelargonium (or maybe that one is in the background!)
    allysum?

Should know the name of the one in the foreground - but can't think of it!

    How did I do?

As for cost...I would guess £24.95 as plants, a lot less if you grew them from seed (which would be very impressive!)

Edit - just noticed Blackthorn's price guess - looks like I got it wrong too!

JarBax, doing okay there. You've got three out of five.

Pricewise, the last five figure was a pence figure. Goodness no, growing from seed, I'm useless with that ... I had just got back from the garden centre! :D

Certainly NOT a Datura, Blackthorn ... JarBax has that one right. [IMG]

roders has the foregound right. Put it all together what everyone has guessed, but there's one still missing, and you're all way off on the price.

Well. I know which ones I've got wrong - but am no further forward with the names of the other two! You'll have to put me out my misery soon!

I can only imagine you got a great bargain...£14.95?

I could only identify a couple - verbena, salvia , and rudbeckia.

As for the sprawly greyish plant with the fiery flowers - don't recognise that at all.

Aha-aha-aha - the lotus is the one at the front -not lotus as in waterlily - but lotus as in 'Lotus maculatus x berthelotii 'Fire Vine'' (had some searching to do to get that one!)

    So...
    Lotus
    salvia
    black eyed susan
    verbena
and the one I can't get is the candytufty one I thought was allysum.

    Is that nearly right?

    Time to reveal all ...

The plants I bought on Saturday are ...

... the plants in the background are ...

I'm afraid you were all a little off on what I paid. For the seven original plants on the table, ie, 2 x Lotus, 2 x Verbena, 1 Cherry Pie, 1 Black-eyed Susan and 1 Alyssum was ....

€13,61 (this Garden Centre always has these odd amounts, think they still use Escudos and convert although they are computerised)

£8.85 (using 6.5 as the conversion rate, but I don't know what it exactly is)

Aaaaaarrrggghhhhh - the allysum was right! And I could have sworn that was spirea - though I called it salvia second time around - just testing *ahem*! Fantastic bargain - in fact unbelievable! You could have paid that for one of those plants over here (in a pricey place!) - but that is just amazing! Well done on a stunning collection of purchases! And thankyou again!

Does anybody want me to put a 10 to identify quiz together?

I didn't see your post, JarBax, but well done, you guessed the most.

Please do, this is a good test of our knowledge of plants, even everyday ones, and thanks for participating in mine! [IMG]

I went back and got two more of the Lotus as they were about £1.90 for a 14cm pot and already quite large as you can see!

Your welcome, Blackthorn. Looking forward to the collection from JarBax now! [IMG]

OK - this really was a 'throw a few pots in a corner' job - as I have a maths exam on Tuesday - and am spending every spare second revising (I failed maths when I was at school - but could do with it now to go into primary teaching!). So excuse the slapdash messyness of it all!

There are 10 plants to spot in here - one isn't visible in the closer shot though, so may be a bit tricky - clues available on request! Just simple names required - as I don't know most of the full/more specific/complicated ones! Extra points for the 'weed' which I rather like - so leave to spread around!

    Here goes...
