If some other member from the London area is going and we can organize us to get there I would like to go.

And a wonderful day out it was indeed! Not only because I got to meet the handsome roders (:gnthb:), but especially because this location in Norfolk is so beautiful that anything that happens there, is bound to be nice.
There is a spot on your right, on the main road on the way to Sandringham, just before Ely train station, that looks like out of a painting or a very nice postcard.
Big canal with riverboats and a field with lots of animals and pretty houses.
Anyway, I am shattered now, I might pick up on the subject later.
This journey was like going to and from Italy at least two times!

Judging by this and the link, there was no end to see and I doubt that anyone managed to get around and really see everything.

How nice that a couple of the GC members met up. :thumb:

Thanks for sharing the wonderful pics, roders, I always enjoy seeing showgardens, some of the ideas are just fantastic. There is something similar near us over here called Park of Gardens which is changed every so often.

Hello again everybody. Yes, Kedi-gato, for me it was very exciting to meet a "celebrity" like roders, and the same would have been with most members of the forum that I know very well, just not in person. I always confide in a gardening forum meeting of a few of us, perhaps one day it will happen!
I cannot decorate my words with pictures because my ever faithful camera, bought a longtime ago, gave up just that morning, and I was ever so upset, so I couldn't even take a picture of the "enchanted forest" surrounding the grounds.
It was a breath of fresh air to go to Norfolk because people in the area where I live are so much more rude and I do feel a bit out of place sometimes. Up there they were all very kind.
I arrived -after a long journey- at midday, when Camilla was probably having lunch somewhere and drinking her lovely "Sandringham cox's apple juice", of which I WILL ORDER A BOX after the holidays. And apple juice it is not the only produce from the estate, since it has to provide food for the Royals during the time they spend there.
This Sandringham Flower Show it is not just about Flowers as I expected, it is like a big elegant market with rows and rows of white marquees and stalls and a bit of everything is on sale there, such things like ceramics, toys, garden accessories, jewellery, crafts etc.
Also plenty of entertainment for children such as the horses carousel (similar to the one in the champs elisees in Paris, possibly better) and 4 in a row old fashioned decorated swinging boats, the type where you have to pull a rope to make it swing (I know all about it by now). There were a good number of small plots made up as gardens with accuracy and dedication, pretty much in the style of some of the Chelsea Flower Show displays, and certainly as nice.
There was a big arena where a marching band first and some beautiful decorated horses later paraded, carrying some ancient agricultural tools. The voice commenting the parade was not shouting , nevertheless exceptionally clear.
There was also a big arena for a show-jump motorcicles. I actually realized I was close when I saw one up in the air well above my head...
Also, there were a couple of war tanks which are really enormous! I couldn't think of the name "tank" on the day and I was trying to find out by asking the soldier nearby, but he kept on saying "fox" and another name which I presume is the name of the type.
I would have done with a few more restoration points, and maybe few more seats here and there, but then I decided to sit on the grass...I had a wonderful Cornish pasty, certainly homemade, which tasted great.
All together as I said a day to remember and to recommend.
