    Hi I have just bought a lap top and the battery when fully charged is only for 1 hour and 35 minutes is this right or have i only got that amount of time because i used it while it was charging, and will it always be like that? if i drain the battery and charge it again without using it will it make a difference or will it be like this all the time now?

    advice anyone :confused: :D

    One of my son's is a computer nerd and also works at PC World he'll know something about this, I could find out if you want me to?

    My laptop doesn't last long once charged so much to my son's horror I keep it plugged in.

    On another note I was horrorified to find from him how much a laptop charger cable costs... £100!

    sunshineP when my lap top goes down on the charge i leave mine plugged in also, find its a lot brighter when plugged in, as it goes a bit dull the picture.
    these lap tops i think they were made really for people on the go, occassional use

    Hi Sunshine this is what my son Dan says about your laptop;

    "Because its got a Celeron processor its alot less effiecient in terms of power usage (compared to a Intel Core 2 Duo) and if I'm honest if your getting a hour and half out of it, your very lucky as in my own experience you'd be lucky to get a hour with just general use or internet browsing. In time you'll find that this will decrease as the battery gets 'tired' and please note the battery isn't covered under the manufacturers warranty."
    Dan.

    Hope this helps you out and that Dan hasn't burst any bubble for you...you still will get many hours of fun from your machine although you will have to use your in house power supply.

    Just a tip for you all. Rechargeable batteries have a 'memory'. This means that if you charge it up before it is completely discharged, it will be fooled into thinking that the last amount of charge is its capacity.

    Example: your battery's factory capacity is 100%; you use it till it's down to 20% and then recharge it but now what it thinks is its 100% capacity is only 80% of what it originally was.

    Also, keeping a rechargeable plugged in all the time is burning out all the battery's memory so that, eventually, it will hold no charge at all since its remembered capacity is down to 0%.

    Anyway, my laptop was only ever around 35 mins. I bought a battery with a bigger capacity for moving around but it weighs a ton!
