I have AGV Free security. On the bar at the bottom of the screen (visible icons) to day since sending an email, another AGV icon has appeared which is permantly spinning round, when i place my cursor on it, (Auto pop3:transferring message #2:100 appears. It has never appeared before. Plus there is a box along side of this icon.Is this a problem and can i get rid of it. Thankyou
POP3 meerly refers to Post Office Protocol ver 3 and is the usual way to access e-mail from a remote host (website) that has a POP3 account. Why you should be getting that message or why the icon is spinning is beyond me. I would suspect a spam attack is being blocked but I could be way off beam. I use AVG (latest free version) and I have never had that happen.
Nor me. Suggest you do a spyware scan clear cookies, restore - in that order. I got something on my pc that SpyBot wouldn't pick up so I subscribed to XoftSpy which cleared up that and a lot of other stuff SB missed.
The pop up from AVG when you go to your Email site appears to tell you that it is checking incoming mail for any virus. So, in fact what you see is a visible sign that the program is working.
Thanks Frogesque/M.daisy/Palustris. Its gone now,and i had never seen it before,it was there for two hours and i was a bit concerned.
as palustris has said...it is part of the email scanner in the avg program...if a email that is being sent or received a little bigger than normal then the spinning icon will show....it also shows if the is an intermitent delay with the program, during its check.
