Does anyone have a problem with posting pictures with photobucket lately??

When I post a photo I resize the picture but when I post it on a forum the picture is super big????? and yet it is ok in my photobucket!

Funny but I was only thinking that the other day. I resize mine to 540x540 pixels, is this big?

I have had that problem in the past. I just kept reducing the size in photoshop till it came out right in PB. Make sure you give it a new name each time, as I think PB is lazy in recognising it as a modified file if it has the same name.

I have PB set to fit all photos to a 15" screen as some don't have a screen as large as mine. [IMG] But in the event that I do have problems I just reduce it by 50% each time and upload by trial and error. :D

Hi, folks! I do it slightly differently. I download my photos into my Photo Genic file and then re-open the ones I want in iPhoto Plus 4 where I re-size them usually to 25% of the original size but may vary depending on the density of the photo.

After I upload into Photobucket, I go into Edit. Typically my photos are 540x360 - 11K which is a good size to use so I Cancel the Edit mode.

If they are bigger than that because I have not re-sized them previously, then in Edit I go to Resize Image where you then have a choice of what size image you want. That would usually be the Message Board size of 640x480.

I agree with BM, however, that should you change the size within Photobucket, you will have to re-name the image.

Just another way of doing things and it seems to come out alright for me all the time. [IMG]

When you upload a photograph to Photobucket there is an option called "Uploading Options".

If you click on this then you can change the image file to the specific size needed. Avatar, Thumbnail, Message Board etc.

    Hi Brackenbeds [IMG]
I have reduced a picture to Avatar size in my Photobucket album size 100x75- 6. And yet when I posted on a forum it was super big.

I resize all my photos before sending to PB. If it is just a few I used the Image Size facility in Photshop. If it is a whole album I use Fine Pix Batch Resize. I change them all to 450 by 338 pixels. This gives a reasonable size on screen and a not too slow upload and download time for us Dialup Internetees.
PB definitely does not always recognise a change in file if the new one has the same name. You need to erase the old file before uploading the new one.

You do need to clear out your cookies and temnp files as the original photo is in your cache. I've found this sometimes works for me.

BTW anyone noticed that PB has undergone another upgrade? Much much better IMO!

Also - never thought of renaming the resized photo! That way you get to keep both sizes!

MD I also resize before uploading. I have a folder specifically for this for photos that have been resized and renamed - therefore my originals are untouched. I can also periodically delete the uploaded photos to avoid clutter.

Fran, I think you have the key. Keep your originals, and put resized ones in a special folder, and upload from there.
