I sent tiscali an e-mail asking them for my migration code to change broadband services and this is their reply, been with them 6 months.

we really share in the inconvenience caused due to issues you were experiencing with broadband connection and respect the time already spent for resolving the matter.
it is very dissapointing that we were not able to resolve the issue at the earliest, however, please do believe that this is not the kind of customer service that we provide.
your experience with us is a very rare case and we believe in customer satisfaction only.
I understand from your e-mail that you require Mac.A Mac is issued by the internet service provider and is then Authenticate.
The migration reguest from your current isp to your new isp and makes migration between providers much simpler and quicker.
Due to technical constrains we are unable to issue Mac from this helpdesk.
I request you contact cancellation helpline to obtain Mac. the cancellation helpline can be contacted at tel no --------------
I have also updated my case notes so that things will be more easier to understand whenever you will contact the cancellation helpline.

This has got me baffled can anyone work this letter out do you think tiscali are accepting that i wish to leave them and i do not know what mac is and isp, help will be greatly appreciated

Up to this point the message is basically saying, sorry we were so rubbish.

I understand from your e-mail that you require Mac.A Mac is issued by the internet service provider and is then Authenticate.

There should be a letter d on the end of Authenticate to make this sentence sensible.
In is they seem to be saying that you have asked for a MAC.

As for the rest of the message, they seem to be saying that you have contacted the wrong section of the company to ask for the MAC and that you should ring (no doubt at great expense) their Cancellation Desk to get the details you need to change providers.
I think you are still tied to them.
    Help?

My first ISP was Tiscali, Absolutly useless I wrote cancelling my contract stopped the Direct Debit and that was the end of that...They did not even contest it.I do find with these firms what ever they are selling best not to enter into dialog with them. ;)

palustrus, i cant believe tiscali i have never mentioned mac to them, and i may just do what rosietu has suggested cancel it but worried as i will and could be without broadband.
your right rosietu tiscali are useless, think they are certainly getting complaints but would not admit to it.
it costs a fortune to call them, I have sent them another e-mail earlier tonight to ask them iff they are going to give me my migration number to move to a different server of my choice said a few other things to them including the rare case which is untrue and told them 2 friends of mine are experiencing the same problems as myself. :(

That email sounds as if it was written by someone unfamiliar with the English language! What load of gobbledygook....
Mac stands for migration authorisation code.

from what i gather Rosa the Mac is the line itself.....when a broadband is cancelled the provider has to remove the Mac from the telephone line within 28days of cancellation so that a new isp prover can have there Mac online for a new broadband conection to be setup.

A Mac is some sort of coded signal on the telephone line, without it no broadband service can be conected.

I do believe that certain isp's share the same Mac.

    Regarding the letter [IMG] [IMG]

Well what can i say...........
