LOL, thats normally the reason, also try 'disk cleanup' in C:\ properties. I usually find it helpful to empty all the temp files etc by doing this. [IMG]

I get the same message from time to time, it says "you virtual memory is low"
    "Windows is creating more space"
And while its doing it, nothing works.

The photo editing seems to cause it to happen, would be interested to know if its a real problem, or is my PC not up to the job.

Virtual memory is what XP creates on your hard drive as extra RAM. If your machine is running out of memory, you need either to plug in extra memory chips or manually increase the amount of space reserved by XP for its use as Ram.
Go to Control Panel Double Click on the symbol labelled System. In the Panel which appears find the word Advanced (top right) Click on that. On the next panel which appears find the section labelled Performance. Click on the word Settings in here. In the next Panel again click on the word Advanced. At the bottom of the next panel you should find a section labelled Virtual memory.
Click on change. On the next Panel you can actually change the amount of Virtual memory set aside for XP to use. There is a recommended amount there, change Minimum and Maximum to that amount. Then Click on Set. If it will not allow you then remove the tick from the box which say System Managed Size. Then Click on all the OKs until the panels disappear.

increase your ram........this is the physical memory that your computer needs to run xp and all the programs and hardware drivers.....

you can also go to start........run......type in panel.........msconfig....go to startup tab at top and untick the programs you don't need to run on startup.......

The top boxes read..Initial size 288
    Max size 576

    Lower boxes read....Min 2MB
    286MB
    Allocated 288MB

Do I change the top box, from 288 to 576 as the Max size?
