    [IMG] Hi Rosa,
Just seen this, sorry. Have you thought of a Dell Laptop?? My Daughter in law bought one & is really pleased with it. They have some on offer at the moment. For around £550 there is an "Inspiron" 6400.
Or for £399. there is the "Inspiron"1300. Both have widescreens. Check them out at www.dell.co.uk/deals ;) or 0870 353 3823 to talk to somebody... They do not sell in the stores but delivery is really quick.. Very good sales & back up too.. :D Check them out..

I got an Acer Travelmat 2313 from www.laptopsdirect.co.uk. It cost a little under £500 and has 526mbRam. I only wanted it for workshop presentations but since have found I'm using it nearly all the time as it's easier than going upstairs to boot up the big ol' steam engine!!

just had a look they look very nice, will have to think whether i want to spend as much as that on a lap top with having this computer at home, iff i needed it for working would be worth pushing the boat out and buying an expensive one, for the times i will be using one is pretty short term, unless i get rid of this one that i have and buy a lap top to use instead of. Got a lot to think about. Thanks pc medic [IMG]

Hesitate to add my tuppence worth, but...

I'd give PC World a swerve and do like Marley F suggests and think about Dell (excellent reputation and after-sales service).

You also really need to sit down and think about what you want to do with a laptop. If emailing, wireless connection and basic computing is all you need, you don't need to spend a lot on a real flying machine with lots of bells lights and whistles you don't need.

Another alternative is to look around on the internet for a pre-owned refurbished computer. You'll find several firms offering these and many come with good guarantees.

(Got two Compaq laptops - one cost all of £25 and the other about £200 but they do what I need them for and one year-old Dell laptop which I use for wireless connectivity and for taking away in our campervan to watch DVDs and route planning)

HI Dave W, I will give it a lot of thought, Just want one for basic e-mailing, logging into gc and other sites and for taking away with me as i cant disconnect this one and take it with me.
Sorry but i had to have a giggle just then when you said bells lights and whistles you dont need, that was so funny. Anyway back to the matter at hand as much as i would like a flying machine you do make a lot of sense, iff i hadnt bought this computer as bought it brand new and had thought about it then i would of just bought an expensive lap top.wished i had so i may just go for a cheaper one.
