Hello. I have a young strawberry tree and the leaves on the bottom branches are going yellow and falling off. There is still lots of new growth at the top end, but the bottom branches are almost empty now.

I tried a bug killer spray on it but it has not made any difference. Is there something else I should be trying?

    Thanks!

My guess would be that its not liking the pot.

I wouldn't class them as a good pot plant really, it needs planting out and a free root run.

Many thanks for all the responses.

I fed it quite recently. I'll try planting in the ground if that will make a difference but I would rather keep it in a pot if possible. Are there any other alternatives? How big could it get / how much space does it need?

    Thanks

    Julie

Left to its own devices it could get up to 10 metres with a large spread.

You can trim it from time to time though, but personally, I dont think it will last many years growing in a pot.

Ya thats true, you should allow the tree's root to grow freely which is not possible in a pot :)

Julie, you can grow any plant in a pot. Just make sure it`s fed and watered properly and repot upwards every 2 or 3 years. Take the yellow leaves off, leaves on plants die. Just remove them.:thumb:
