    Hello,

I was in Eyemouth today and I swear I have never seen such huge seagulls in my life. They are obviously onto a good thing down there by the harbour!

i live by the sea,and i must be one of the few people in the land who loves seagulls. i think they are so beautiful when they are soaring in the wind. except when they splatter their contents on my washing :D

Tiggs&oscar I live not far from Eyemouth myself and I know what you mean, they are huge and I find them quite scary at times, but hey they do live by all those chip shops and get fish and chips everyday free aswell I might add lucky seagulls :D :D :D

I like to see them flying, they can be a bit of a nuisance sometimes but i guess when we live by the coast this is there habitat and they have to mingle with us building all over the coast lines

I get so cross when I hear people in our town calling for a cull. Every year they get the same old record out.

We live by the sea, if these people don't like seagulls waking them up, they should move to a town and be woken up by traffic if that is what they prefer.

Im with you on that Rich, you know when we had a royal visit in Berwick not so long back we all got notices not to feed the seagulls and some how dont ask me how they did it but the seagulls were moved to Eyemouth for a week before the royals came, so there was not mess all over the place, amazing the difference it made but after the visit they were all back again, it was as if they new when to come back. :D :D

The sound of Gulls calling in the distance is one of my very special childhood memories....

Yes, they can be a pest, especially when the holiday makers feed them!!!! And when they poop on you, etc!!!! AND when you go away on holiday and they sit on the caravan roof and start calling at 5am, then b*gger off when you are well and truly awake.... but, hey, that's part and parcel of the coast!!! And like Rich said, if you don't like them....

Our town council have talked of culls and banned feeding gulls and even hired a falcon (it just seemed to catch a couple of pigeons, and not bother the gulls). Apart from the mess, most folk hate it once the chicks have fledged, and the parents dive bomb you. Luckily this seems to happen when we are away on holiday, so I have not yet experienced this frightening phenomenon!

I quite like them - they are part of our natural coastal environment - but have to agree that dodging the effluent aint much fun!

they dont bother me here on the coast used to them and i quite agree why people live on a coastal route were seagulls its their home.
I sometimes watch them early morning flying round and round over our rounda-bout they are quite comical to watch, they dont bother you, and i have never been hit by their business, the car gets it occasionally, but you get it with any birds. black birds are quite noisy

I loved seeing the gulls in Eyemouth and stood at the harbour for a while hoping to see the seals too (no luck). Two juvenile gulls did acrobatics over the harbour for a while to entertain me.
A while ago I worked on an Army Barracks near a fishing port and out of all the gulls that visited there was one I named Spartacus, he pretended to have a dicky wing but I later discovered he could fly perfectly. This was after my kitchen staff had started feeding him fresh and cooked fish, sausage rolls, fruit etc out of pity!!!
When I used to walk from one building to another he would walk with me and squawk jealously at any other gulls!
